A BIT ABOUT GROWING

Have any of you students had baby animals at home? Like maybe a puppy or a kitten? What did you notice about the animal's growth? How could you tell they were growing?

In this discussion, we are not talking about getting fat; we are talking about the changes from baby to adult. Those changes, lumped together, are called "maturing."

The kinds of things that animals do change as they grow. Becoming an adult is more than merely getting bigger. Those of you who have younger brothers and sisters can tell of the ways the siblings change as they grow.

Do all types of animals grow? For that matter, do all types of plants grow? Why do you think that is?

How many types of animals can you name? Make a list. Lists are fun!
