Now we are going to make some different kinds of ice. Maybe.

We have some small jars with lids. We will fill each jar half-full of the following liquids: water, alcohol, mineral spirits from the paint store, pancake syrup, and antifreeze.
Into the freezer they go, and we will check on them every half-hour for four hours.

The liquid that freezes first goes on the top of the list, and the next ones will be listed below.

Gee whiz! The antifreeze didn't freeze! You don't suppose that is why it is called "antifreeze," do you?

Did all the other stuff freeze? Why do you think that is?
