GROW VINE ON STICK, REMOVE STICK Is there a special word for plants with stems that grow on sticks or strings or fences, and cling to them? Do you think they are called vines? How many ways do they cling to their supports? This is really going to be fun. We have some sweet pea seeds which we'll plant in a pot. We need a stick about three feet long to push into the soil beside the seeds. Let's watch how the stems cling to the stick as they grow. After the stems are about one foot tall, we'll gently pull the stick out of the soil, and lay it sideways so it goes along the counter top. The stems will still be growing along the stick. Or will they? What will they do? After a week or so, we will very carefully take out the stick, and see what happens next. y Any problems with this page? Send URL to
